Who We Are
The ARMA Northern Virginia (ARMA NOVA) Chapter is a local chapter of ARMA International®. The Chapter is a not-for-profit professional association and the authority on governing information as a strategic asset for the northern Virginia region. ARMA NOVA has been dedicated to advancing Information Governanceprinciples and practices in the northern Virginia Region since 1988.
The Chapter has supported the ongoing development of records and information management and information governance professionals through organizing and promoting education, training, research, and networking programs in commercial, government (federal, state and local governments) and non-profit organizations.
ARMA NOVA is an award-winning, informative, and strategic chapter of ARMA International that fosters collaboration and relationship-building for knowledge-seeking records and information management and information governance professionals.

ARMA NOVA members include records and information managers, information governance professionals, archivists, corporate librarians, imaging specialists, legal professionals, information technology managers, consultants, and educators, all of whom work in a wide variety of industries. Our member’s professional experience ranges from those who are just starting their careers to those in senior management ranks. Commercial entities and government officials whose business interests are focused on information governance also join ARMA NOVA. These members provide the basis for a thriving industry demand for knowledgeable and skilled information management and information governance professionals.

Our Region – Northern Virginia
The area of Virginia south and west of the Nation's Capital, bounded roughly by the Appalachian Mountains to the west, the Potomac River to the north and east, and the Rappahannock River to the south, is commonly known as Northern Virginia. The historic cities and towns of Alexandria, Leesburg, Winchester, Warrenton, and Fredericksburg, along with the booming high technology enterprises along the Dulles Technology Corridor from Tysons Corner to Reston and represent the historical and modern significance of the region. Northern Virginia is a thriving and diverse region and a home to many federal government agency headquarters such as the Pentagon, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Major Department of Defense (DoD) military facilities are based in the region including Fort Myer, Fort Belvoir, and the Marine Corps Base Quantico. Many industry giants such as Airbus, AOL, AT&T, BAE Systems, Boeing, EDS, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, SAIC, Spring Nextel, USA Today, Freddie Mac, and Verizon have headquarters or major regional offices here.
The region is abundant with historical, cultural, and recreational landmarks, from George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, Gadsby's Tavern, Wolf Trap Farm Park and the Air and Space Museum to Great Falls and the Manassas Battlefield, visitors and residents alike have plenty to do and see. Northern Virginia is truly a diverse and progressive area that has not lost touch with its history. ARMA NOVA is proud to serve the area "where history is neighbor to the future."

ARMA NOVA won ARMA's 2014 Large Chapter of the Year Award in recognition of the chapter's quality programs and activities.

In 2013, ARMA NOVA celebrated its 25th Anniversary of serving area records and information management professionals.
